David Beckham wanted so much to become the first player to appear in four World Cups for England. He was close before tearing his left Achilles’ tendon Sunday while playing for AC Milan, an injury that will cause him to miss soccer’s premier tournament and most if not all of the Los Angeles Galaxy’s season.
